Cleaning agents are an important part of keeping our homes clean and tidy. However, many of us are unaware of the potential dangers they pose to our feline friends.

Many of the chemicals used in cleaning agents, such as bleach, ammonia, and vinegar, can cause burns, irritation, and even poisoning if they are ingested in large quantities. Is Fabuloso Safe for Cats

No, Fabuloso is not safe to use around cats. Most cleaning products from Fabuloso contain bleach, hydrogen peroxide, and ammonia. These compounds make it easy to remove stubborn stains, but they can harm your cat’s health.

Fabuloso is a powerful cleaner and should be used in well-ventilated areas. You should also avoid using the cleaner on surfaces where your cat likes to sleep or play. You should avoid letting them drink or lick the cleaner. If ingested, the cleaner could cause stomach upset or other severe health problems.

As with any cleaning product, you should always read the label carefully and follow the directions. This will help you avoid any accidental exposure to your cat.

What is the Toxic ingredient in Fabuloso and other cleaning agents?

Most cleaning agents are made in highly concentrated forms. Hence, you have to dilute them before use or they will cause irritations to your palms. In diluted forms, the chances of your cat getting poisoned will be lowered.

However, you should never allow your cat or other pets to have free access to fabuloso or cleaning areas as they could ingest or absorb them, and it could hurt their health. Here are the toxic ingredients:

Hydrogen Peroxide

Skin and paw rashes and irritations may occur due to topical exposure to hydrogen peroxide. When vets professionally use plants or unsuitable foods to poison cats, 3% hydrogen is used to induce vomits.

If a little beyond the right amount of hydrogen peroxide is used, your cat may experience inflammation and bleeding in their esophagus and stomach—this is why we never advise an inexperienced cat owner to induce vomit at home using hydrogen peroxide.

The fabuloso complete cool mist contains hydrogen peroxide, making it unsafe for your cat. If you must use it to clean decayed cat urine or any part of your house, ensure to keep the cat away from the places you are cleaning, till it’s safe for the cat.

Isopropyl Alcohol

Alcohol might have antiseptic uses, but only a professional will know how to handle the use on cats. Besides that, isopropyl alcohol( in large amounts or high concentrations) should never be used on your cat’s skin since it can easily cause damage to your kitty’s skin, delay healing, and affect the cat’s entire body system. This is why your cat should not be present when you clean the house with Fabuloso.

If your cat ingests this ingredient, your feline friend is likely going to experience a lack of coordination, disorientation, and committing, and in lethal cases, respiratory depression and seizures

Phenols

Phenol is a commonly used chemical compound in a host of household cleaning products from toilet bowl cleaners, to disinfectant sprays. Cases of phenol poisoning in cats when this compound comes in contact with a cat’s skin or eyes usually leave severe damage.

Also, phenols could cause injuries to the lungs if inhaled. We advise you to take precautions when using products that contain phenol as the skin of your cat could rapidly absorb this chemical compound leading to loss of coordination, seizures, and hypersalivation.

Bleach

Bleach reacts severely on cats. The severity of bleach depends on the channel in which the bleach got into the cat a body and the amount of bleach the cat has been exposed to. Did the cat chew the bottle cap, or walked through a puddle on the floor while you cleaned with Fabuloso?

The symptoms of bleach poisoning in cats include eye irritation and teary eyes. While if your cat ingests a highly concentrated Fabuloso cleaning agent, it will experience oral ulceration, acute depression, hypersalivation, lack of appetite, lethargy, esophageal burning, and vomiting.

As Fabuloso aims to cut through grease and stains, its bleaching oxidizing formulas make these possible but to the detriment of your pet. To make Fabuloso safe for cats, you may want to dilute it extensively but keep in mind that it won’t be as effective as a less diluted form.

If I Use Fabuloso, How Do I Keep My Cat Safe?

Once you’ve diluted the cleaner, you can use it to clean any areas of your home that your cat frequents. This includes their food and water bowls, litter box, bedding, and toys. Simply wipe down these surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge soaked in the Fabuloso solution.

The best way to protect your cat is to keep it out of the house entirely when you’re using Fabuloso. If that’s not possible, make sure to keep your cat in a well-ventilated room, and don’t let it drink from the toilet bowl after you’ve used Fabuloso in it.

Can I Use Fabuloso On My Cat’s Body?

Fabuloso in a very little quantity may not cause your cat’s health to fail. However, if this cleaning agent is used on your cat’s skin, paw pads, or eyes; it could result in chemical blistering, severe burns, rashes, and even injuries.

Beyond the risk of adverse chemical reactions, a lot of emergency cases have risen as a result of cats inhaling chemical fumes such as those found in cleaning agents and in aerosolized sprays.

Hence, the best thing you should do is to digest the ingredient label of any cleaning agent you intend to use on your cat before you buy them and you want to stay away from products that contain acids, bleach, and hydroxide/oxide ingredients.

What Are Some Alternative Products to Fabuloso?

Vinegar

When it comes to cleaning your home, vinegar is a powerhouse agent. It’s great for cleaning grease and grime, and it’s also a natural disinfectant.

What’s more, vinegar is non-toxic and non-irritating, which means it’s safe for both you and your cat. Vinegar is one of the best ways to clean surfaces that your cat may be tempted to lick.

So how do you use vinegar to clean your home? There are lots of different ways, but my favorite method is to mix it with water in a spray bottle. Then I just spritz it onto the surface I want to clean and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it away. Easy peasy!

Lemon

You might already know this, but lemon is a great natural cleaning agent. It’s perfect for tackling stubborn dirt and it smells nice too.

But there’s one big problem with using lemon to clean your house—it can be pretty acidic. And if you’re not careful, it can damage your surfaces, and cats are repelled by the scent and juice of a lemon.

Baking Soda

You might not think of baking soda as a cleaning agent, but it’s great for getting rid of tough grime and dirt. Plus, it’s gentle on your cat’s paws and won’t cause any irritation.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a great natural cleaning agent for cats. It has antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it’s also a good disinfectant. Plus, it smells great, which is always a bonus.

Just make sure to dilute it in water before you use it, as it can be quite strong if you use it undiluted. And never use tea tree oil on your cat’s skin—it can cause skin irritation.

Soapwort

Soapwort is a natural cleaning agent that’s safe for cats. It’s a plant that grows in the wild, and the root is what’s used for cleaning.

Soapwort is effective at cleaning grease and oil, and it doesn’t leave any residue behind. You can use it to clean your floors, your counters, your stovetop—pretty much anything you need to clean.

Just be sure to test it on a small area first to make sure it doesn’t damage the surface you’re trying to clean. And keep in mind that soapwort can be a little harsh, so you might want to dilute it with water before using it i

Is Fabuloso Safe For Cats? – Final Thoughts

Fabuloso is bad for cats if used while your cat is present. There are multiple risks of poisoning; your cat could walk into the sud or chew on the cap of the cleaning agent or worse, ingest the concentrated form of fabuloso—which will lead to severe health complications.

The only way to make fabuloso safe for cats is to dilute it and deny your cat access to areas you’re actively cleaning.
